Question: How do i turn on this heavy machinery/crane to use it?

Just messing around in this sandpit, I came across this large machinery, it's one of those crane vehicles. The key is in it, and when I tried starting it up (for kicks), I could like, get the engine revving, and when I turned the key and flipped this switch, it would get a little louder, but I couldn't find out how to actually get it going :(.
